Hey, I'm looking for a player Plat and above to give me some coaching/advice on my gameplay as I'm wanting to get better and have been laddering pretty solid.  I'm currently a mid-gold Random on EU.  If you are able to help out then please add: Hoorah (675)

Hey, I'm not on EU but I do play random on NA and mid master level.  I can type up for what I do with every matchup and my openings if you think that will help.

Yeah.  I'll try and write one up after work with some replays.  My builds are pretty simple.  I do have problems ZvZ and TvT other than that all my other matchups are pretty solid.

Terran
Terran's are known for their countless harass with drops and something you will want to do vs Toss & Zerg.  Always try to do 2 drops at once in different bases to keep your opponent on their toes.
vsZerg
Your main focus here is to fast expand.  I will do the standard 10/11 supply depot by your main and build 2 rax at your ramp with only a small opening between them.  After your second rax is done use that SCV to make a command center that will block of your ramp from letting anyone in.  Now you have 2 routes.  1) build an additional 2-3 rax and pump marines non stop until you have a handful for a small push while securing your natural.  Usually this will kill most Zergs because they saw your expansion and they will just drone up and since you have 2rax+CC they won't try and baneling bust you.  2) The other build you can do is take a gas after your start building your CC and start getting ready for drops and upgrades.  The end result will be the same though.  I always go mass marines with upgrades and drops vs Zerg.  The only games I do lose is when I fall behind in my macro and I only have like 5-6 raxs.

vsProtoss
I do two builds here.  The first one will be basically your opener vsZerg with the 2rax fast expand except this time instead of adding 3 addition barracks you will get either 1 gas and 1 additional barracks and start pumping Maurders and Marines with 1-2 bunkers at your natural.  You will want to get early stim and drops to keep the pressure on the Protoss.  If they are just left alone they will just get the dreaded Protoss ball and 1a to your base.
Another opening I will do is 2rax with tech labs pumping out Maurders w/upgraded slow.  Once I have about 5-6, I'll go do a little harass while starting my expansion.  This will allow me to see what my opponent is doing and what I need to do.  If I see 4gate, I'll throw up 2 bunkers and put 1 Maurder and 2 marines in them and continually pumping while building another barracks and engineering bay for upgrades.  After my expansion is up and running I'll be working towards drops and adding a few more barracks.

Key Things to Remember
1) Upgrades! Having 3-3 Marines just feels imba especially vs Zerg when they try to muta/ling you.
2) After your first harass start getting addons for your barracks.  Having 4-5 Barracks with reactors will keep you from having to much minerals.
3) You only need Vespene Geysers.  Terran do not use much gas at all unless you plan on going mech heavy.
4) Keep dropping all game.  Make your opponent feel scared to move out.  This allows you to expand while building up your economy and base.

As you can see my Terran vs Z & P are very bio heavy.  The reason is just because bio is cheap, effective, and mobile.  I have tried going marine/tanks vs Zerg but I just end up falling behind because I don't push my tanks or I'm always caught out of position so usually I'll just have about 6-7 racks with reactors just massing marines and dropships while taking every expansion I can.  I do strongly suggest going bio vs these two races just because it will make you pay more attention to the map and you get great practice splitting your army up from banelings or storms.  Also bio drops are the best harass in game.  If you lose your drop you can rebuild it so fast.

As I said My TvT very weak and might be best to look else were for that.  Usually I just fast expand and go straight air or just marine/tank.

I'll have the Zerg one up next most likely and Toss will be last.  If you know a site where I can upload replays that would be nice ^^ or you can add me on skype Jacob-Robbins and I can send you replays via skype and answer questions promptly if you have any.

Appreciate the time you put into getting this together for me.  I will def be trying out these builds, especially vs.  Zerg who I tend to play marine/tank which is okay, but if you get caught out of position half way across the map and say all your marines are killed by banes, then mutas have free reign over your tanks and snipe them, its 80% of the time gg because tanks are costly.  With protoss, if they 4-gate me I love it, because I find it easy to hold it off.  Like you say throw up a bunker and keep producing units and you pretty much win.  TvT comes down to luck with how I play that day, I generally go marine/tank/medivac and push when tanks are out of position/unsieged etc.

Another matchup which I struggle with is ZvP and PvZ (because I play random). PvZ, I find I don't put enough pressure on or I over commit and lose straight off.  With ZvP, I don't really know if I should drone up or tech with timings etc.

Soon as I get Skype, I'll add you and would be good if I could get some replays of these builds.

Cheers bud,
Mark.

Oh and another thing I need to work on is drops and knowing what I should be target sniping etc.  Constantly being aggressive with Terran whilst macroing is an art lol.

Btw, do you think its better to learn each race individually (ie.  take a season each with one race) before playing random?

Hey sorry.  Umm I'll write up my PvZ and ZvP strat for you and to be honest I think random is the best way to go.  When you lose you know what you lost to and maybe try it out on your next matchup (Say if you lost ZvT you can try out your opponents start TvZ and see if it works for you). You basically learn all your counters and what works and what doesn't.  That is one main reason I play random as well just to have fun.  Anways I'm pretty drunk and need some sleep but I'll for sure try and do that write up tomorrow.  I've just been busy trying to get some interviews done and working out life problems

Hey dude, you've helped me out enough already.  You don't need to write up anything else, I'll just keep on practising, laddering and trying out new builds.  But ty for your time sounds like you got a lot on your hands :P
