I just recently started dedicating myself to bodybuilding.  So I was wondering if anyone else here workouts and for what reasons? Also if you don't mind posting the kind of workout you follow it would be nice (Like which exercise/muscle you do for each day that you go to the gym)

I go to the gym 5 times per week and if it weren't for my trainer telling me to rest I'd probably go there 7 times per week .

Day1 and 4 : Legs (I need to burn the fat on my ass and love handles)
Day2 : Back + Tricep
Day3 : Shoulder + Abs
Day5 : Pecs + Bicep

10 min cardio before (5 min leg day) and 20 min after (10 min leg day) my workouts

Nice man.  Yeah I just recently started to workout.  I'm not going into anything, I just want to have a nice body.  I'm new to wroking out and I am having a hard time finding a routine and set workout.  Although I hate to admit it, I kind of just do whatever I feel like when I go to the gym, even though I know I shouldn't do it like that.

Maybe you guys that actually work out can help me.
My overall goal is just to have a "beach ready" (for lack of a better description) type of body.

once you start it and see the first results you get addicted ;)

How exactly do you do underams? lol
I'd suggest doing one day pecs/ biceps /abs another shoulder /back /tricep and the last day Legs only.  What makes you grow are your legs ;) The more you do your legs the more you grow :D

PS: I don't know how you do it :) an average of 2 - 3 times per week wouldn't be enough for me :P

I workout much less compared to you but I do workout everyday.

I do this women's health fitness program video which focuses on fatburn (2 strength sets, 2 cardio sets)...it really makes me sore for about 2-3 days whenever I do it, but it helps burn alot of calories.

I also dance & run which is once again cardio/some flexibility/fatburn, along with playing basketball.

when i go to gym, i just tone triceps, do some squats, and tone biceps, shoulders and abs.
I dont bench or do that intense bodybuilder muscle workout.

Im working on abs...doing crunches/setups/legups...its my weakest!

I work out 3-4 times a week depending on what I do that week.
Day one: Arms/shoulders
Day two: Abs/back
Day three & four: Repetition of day one & two

I do not really work out my legs since I bike pretty much everyday and can run at a pretty fast pace.  You can also say that I am still in High School so working out to produce big muscles is not something I should be doing just now.

5 days a week Monday-Friday
my current workout is
Monday - chest, tris, abs
Tuesday - back, bis, forearms
Wednesday - neck, shoulders, abs
Thursday - legs
Friday - i just do abs, so i don't consider it much of a workout.
I change up every couple of weeks, so not to get repetitive

I have a diet plan, I eat 8 meals a day, small meals mostly, and I use Mass Effect and Syntha 6 proteins.

I don't know how the rest of you feel, but working out is kind of religious for me now, if I don't go I feel like a piece of shit the rest of the day pretty much. I also love the feeling after I work out. I go everyday, and if a miss a day I'll make it up the next day and work out that weekend to make up for it.

some other tips to follow if you want to be successful

Do NOT work the same primary muscle consecutive days, and try not to work the secondary muscles of the primary workout from the day before, if you don't know what this means, just look it up I don't want to explain it.

eat heavy protein foods right after you work out, and take a protein shake or use some kind of protein, or else your workout was worthless. (many ppl say this is a lie, but trust me they are idiots. EAT) the trick is to FILL your calories, and keep them full.

If you're trying to be lean and cut ( AND ARE ALREADY BIG), run between EACH set, at a good pace for 2 minutes, lift ALOT of lighter weights.  do not lift heavy or you wont cut down.
if you're trying to get bigger(bulk up) if a small guy or skinnier, DO NOT run at all; LIFT HEAVY<-- do not be a pussy, push yourself or you wont get bigger.. they say cardio is good for you, which is true, but it is not what you are looking for. You burn more calories lifting than you will running anyways, AND running burns off all those calories you want to bulk up with.. A good plan would be if you're already an established lifter bulk up and lift heavy in the winter, and run and lift light in the summer.
If you don't listen to this you're a complete fucking idiot. All valid and proven FACTS about real weight lifting.

This is personal advice, and facts I have attained from friends and trainers who are AVID weight lifters with experience and success(including 1 ex olympic body builder, and 1 ex olympic weight lifter) since I've begun lifting 2 years ago.

Do not look up stupid advice from every average joe who has weight lifting advice on the internet or a forum... No offence to anyone above me, I didn't read any of your posts.

Running between each sets? This'll just tire you out... and make you weaker during the lift... It's better to do cardio before and after the workout.  Not to mention that running before breakfast is what will make you leaner.

I also don't agree with you where you say that if I don't follow this I'm an idiot lol.

For the heavy lifting it's all good.  As for wanting to cut it's kind of obvious you've got to use lighter weights because you're doing bigger sets/reps lol.  But it's possible to get lean while lifting heavy with the right diet.  Since it's the diet that does like 80% of the job.

In my opinion someone that's starting to working out can get some workouts from the net, some of them really do work.  How do I know? I once did a program that I found on the net that was said to make me lose weight and it worked but it's nothing special really : Supersets where you lift yourself (pushups, chinups, dips, squats) etc.  But eventually they'll be useless if your goal is to get big.

Personal trainers / friends with good knowledge is the best :)

you mean dont do benchpress for chest and then triceps the next day f.e.?

No he meant bicep one day and bicep the following day.

Yawn....

Chest
Back
Leg/abs
Shoulders/traps
Bi's/tri's

Occasionally lift on Saturday's if I feel like I need to hit another area twice that week.  Nothing is set in stone, just a rough outline.  I started lifting because I was always lean and very active sports wise.  After I graduated my friends moved on to bigger cities/military/college ect while I stayed here to help take care of my mom.  Needless to say, less activity and millions of pepsi's later I had put on 20 lbs of fat and was very unhappy with my appearance.

I'd never run between sets, and I wouldn't run before lifting either.  I'd be willing to WARM UP before lifting, but nothing like the cardio after I'm done lifting.  As for absolutely not lifting heavy while cutting, I think that's stupid advice as well.  There's no FACT behind that.  Building muscle will burn fat, that's FACT; feel free to look it up.  Not saying there isn't benefits to lifting light over heavy, but not getting into that.  But when you go to give advice like you're some professional body builder, then go to say you work abs 3 times a week I have my doubts.  Unless you're breaking it up in sections (obliques, upper abs, lower abs), then I'd say it's feasible -- but still wouldn't do it.

And Teal, I don't even want to begin on you.  He asked for your work out plan/reasons as to why you're working out -- not like you're all knowing (neither you, nor BC are -- although BC has done a lot of reading).

I know this is going to make it seem like I think I know everything, but I really don't.  Just obnoxious to have people going around acting like they're the next Arnold (even if that's a bit hypocritical).

Amen :)

On a side note, if anyone has a question to ask you've got to ask it to Arith.  He has an incredible knowledge.

Btw I meant cardio before the workout if it's for cutting and if you're fat lol.  I do it and it's basically my warmup
