koi[nK]: I'm here with our #1 man, zoi[nK]. Also known as Hector.  Editorial Admin and currently the highest ranked player from VG in the SC2 Beta.  How are you today Hector?
zoi[nK]: I'm well, Mondays are boring because its back to school, but overall I'd say I'm pretty good.  Yourself?
koi[nK]: I'm doing alright, Mondays are boring for me cause I do nothing all day :P So, I gotta ask.  Why so pro?
zoi[nK]: If you're refering to my sc2 skill I don't know lol.  I wouldn't say I'm pro or anything, but SC1 low money mechanics do transfer over.  If you play Iccup at a high D+ or so your mechanics should be good enough to get you into platinum.
zoi[nK]: If you're talking about something else, you'll have to be more specific :-)
koi[nK]: Haha; you know what I'm talking about ;)
zoi[nK]: I sure hope so.
koi[nK]: So anyways, What do you think you like most about SC2?
zoi[nK]: I'd have to say that Protoss has really gotten some great new additions and cute micro tricks to their race.  Whoever was designated to design that race did an excellent job.  They really were able to balance new additions and spells but they still were able to keep that futuristic Protoss feel.
zoi[nK]: Other than that, I just love SC2 as a competative RTS.  The game is constantly evolving and theres always ways to improve.  Things that were working 2 weeks ago are obsolete.
koi[nK]: Yea, People are definitely figuring out the best ways to do things already.  Not to mention the nerfing.  I have to agree with you on Protoss, I just love the looks, and the new units.
koi[nK]: Is there anything that just really ticks you off about it?
zoi[nK]: Zerg has become a lot less micro intensive and is more noob friendly.  There 1 spell caster is in most situations not worth it, and all other spells like drop creep and spawn larva are more defensive/economical so you dont see them in battle.  Not to be cliche, but it feels like its 1a2a3a4a in most Zerg battles at the moment.  Lings/Hydras/Roaches/Mutas/Ultras have no spells and they are the backbone of the Zerg army.  Sure there is some positioning and target firing to do, but its just not as interesting as the other races at the moment in my opinion.
koi[nK]: Yea, I agree.  I never got into zerg that much when I was testing out the races.  It's just not as fun.
koi[nK]: Whats your favourite new unit to the game?
zoi[nK]: probably the Sentries or Queens.  But I guess the queen isn't technically new, its just completly different.
koi[nK]: True, although the name is the only thing that remained the same pretty much lol.  Sentries are fun.  Prove very useful early game, haha.  What do you think is the most useless new unit?
zoi[nK]: I'm tempted to say Infestor, althought Phoenix and Corruptors are pretty close seconds.  Reapers have more and more lost their place as the metagame has developed as well.
koi[nK]: The new patches pretty much killed Reapers.  Haha. I've had some use for Phoenix's late game sometimes.  Only in 2's tho.
koi[nK]: How do you think this game will do when those purists who think it looks too much like WC3 get to actually play it?
zoi[nK]: To be honest, I've never played WC3, so I really can't compare the 2 games.  However the most common complaints from people who havent played seem to be that the game looks too cartoony or that there is more specific focus on individual key units that make the game less "mass" focused and more "small battle style". The game does look a bit cartoony in the lower settings I'll admint, but as soon as people start getting better computers and 2-3 years from now most people will be able to play on higher settings, no ones going to be complaining anymore.  Before the beta came out, a lot of people were complaining that the game was too slow, but anyone who has played the game knows its the exact oposite lol.  And there is definitely a lot of mass battles just like in SC:BW.

I think the critics will be in for a big surprise once they play it.  Ive heard close to no complaints about a SC2=WC3 from people that have actually played the Beta.
koi[nK]: Same here, In fact I've heard complaints actually opposite of that, from people who have only played wc3, who just get overrun by how fast the game is haha
zoi[nK]: Yea, well in the end its just another RTS.  WC3 as well as SC players have a strong advantage over the majority of beta players at the moment.
koi[nK]: Very true, Mainly SC players though :)

zoi[nK]: Its ok, this last patch has left the game buggier in my experience.  The game crashes like after every 2-3 games at the moment.
