Over the past two weeks, two qualifiers were held for IPL's upcoming Team Arena Challenge 2. On Sunday, January 8th Team Vile participated in the IGN Pro League's Team Arena Challenge 2 Qualifier #1. With 12 teams already accepted into the Season 2 tournament, the top 2 teams in each of the two qualifiers round out the second edition of IPL's 16 team arena challenge. The format for the qualifiers was a 16 team tournament with a best of nine all-kill format and single elimination.
Vile opened up the qualifiers with an all-kill of mTw Gaming by vileYong before moving past Team Clash by a count of 5-2. In order to qualify for the Season 2 tournament, Vile had to win their 3rd round match with Russian team imba.FXO. The battle for a spot in the main draw was a closely contested, back and forth series that went Vile's way after vileIllusion took out Brat_OK from imba.FXO to seal the 5-3 victory and a spot in main event.
With a spot in the main event already secured, Vile then took on Team ZeNEX which hails from Korea in a match that had seeding implications for the main draw on the line. Team Vile jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead thanks to vileState who took out ZeNEX's Pet and YangSongE before falling Sparta. With a 2-1 lead Vile sent in ChaNce who promptly took care of Sparta, Extreme, and Life to claim the 5-1 win for Vile. You can view the VOD of the match-up between Vile and ZeNEX (in two parts) by checking out IPL's Justin.tv page here.
