Dustin Browser basically mentions at the end of the video that the beta is going to be four to six months long, and that they're going to let people in slowly (in batches). So if the beta starts in a few weeks.. add on the 4-6 month delay.. the first game of the trilogy comes out in time for Christmas?

That sounds about right.  I watched this video before I went to bed last night, and I took some thought about it.  It makes sense in my mind.

Yeah, no matter if you're beta testing.  You will never officially know when SCII is going to come back because of Blizzard's awesome reputation in the past.  I hope you guys have fun beta testing though, you guys better keep us updated with all the bugs =D.

Alright, to keep people's hopes alive:

"As for those who are displeased with Blizzard's handling of the beta and public relations, I assure you that Karune's explanations in our interview were perfectly sufficient.  The game is in a playable state, but the server infrastructure required to handle 30-40k users is not in place.  Thus it is now a purely logistical issue, and he estimates beta within a relatively short timeframe."

That's why the beta hasn't been released.

Yea I think we will be hard pressed to see a final version of sc2 before christmas though.. I suspect beta will bring about issues that require a lot of work that will prolong the release date.  I honestly don't mind it being prolonged, because I want blizzard to put out the most polished game they can, and I don't like Christmas so it wouldn't bother me to see a final version in 2010.
