So yeah, I’ve seen some game play trailers and I have to say that this game looks impressive. I’m very glad they decided to keep the resource system pretty much the same as StarCraft, it was well-balanced, so having the same 2 main resources is going to be important. They also haven’t changed the three race factor, a disappointment to some, however, to the seasoned RTS player, it means we can expect another equally balanced game. Not just any kind of balanced game, we get to expect game that is fully functional in a 3D realm! Something that has been done in a few other RTS’s, but not in an RTS so very well balanced by Blizzard. What’s the difference you ask between the 3D mechanics of WarCraft 3 and StarCraft 2? Well…
The most obvious difference stems from the ability to manipulate the 3D realm in StarCraft. Units are able to transform from ground to air units to pass over barriers, units able to jump from the bottom of a cliff to the top, and units that are able to walk right over the cliff as if they aren’t even there. Occasionally in WarCraft 3 we would get a taste of these awesome unit abilities, and they worked. Damn they worked so well with the heroes of WarCraft 3, that Blizzard is finally putting them right into the mainstream building game. Most importantly Blizzard implemented all these features without changing our prized gaming population cap of 200/200. The most treasured possession of SC has been the ability to make a massive amount of units and throw them all on the same map in all out combat!
They’ve promised us Multiplayer support on the Battle.net that we know and love. So hopefully, like with WarCraft and its sequels that means the StarCraf 2 players will be able to have chat conversations with the original StarCraft players that cannot yet afford to update. Also, just like the original StarCraft, we are promised to have an amazing Campaign Editor that will allow us to create maps to our liking! I cannot wait to get a good look at this, as maps are going to be a huge part of what becomes of StarCraft 2.

Agree whole-heartedly with everything you said. SC set standards and broke boundaries. SC2 will be the solution to the RTS genre for decades to come.

I thought they changed the supply limit to more allow more than 200/200? I can't confirm that, it's just something I heard. And yes I agree with everything you said :)
