I'd been contemplating putting something in this blog, but I didn't have anything overly interesting... but this made me think, so I'll put it down now.
Last night I dreamt scientists had been observing the sun, and discovered the nuclear explosions on it had become more erratic and stressed. After a week of observation and tests, they had come to a conclusion - in just one month, the sun was going to run out of hydrogen, and burst into a Red Giant and swallow up the entire solar system.
This wasn't expected for another 5 million years, but some outside force must have tampered with it, or we simply fucked up big time. Either way, as soon as the news came on, their was widespread panic. People were tense in the streets, everything was silent. Suddenly, due to an electrical failure, all electricity was cut off. No lights, no music, no alarms.. People degraded into beasts and became scavenging animals. Rape and murder was widespread, petty grudges were solved with knives or guns, parents locked their children up in basements..who were soon taken by starving adults to be eaten. It was a society of anarchy.
During all this, I was one of the people. I killed and knifed people for food. I became an animal, like everyone else. (Thankfully, even my dream self had enough moral not to rape >.< that woulda been shameful.)
On the last week before the sun was due to explode (the temperature had become increasingly hot, and remember, since it was a dream time didn't work properly), everyone suddenly reverted back to their proper selves. All of a sudden, death and violence was replaced with tears. For whatever reason, everyone started to pick up the pieces and tried to rebuild what they'd destroyed. All the buildings, the hungry families, everything... the sense of community was amazing. Even the worst offenders became model citizens.
On the 6th day, everything was silent. Everyone stayed indoors with whatever they had, and just waited...
On the 7th day, as promised, the sun began rapidly expanding. The sea levels rose at a ridiculous rate. As I looked up at the sky, the blue became yellow, my skin melted off my bones and pooled onto the ground (it's an odd feeling in a dream). Then, as death always does in a dream, I woke up.
It has to be one of the most eye-opening dreams I've ever had. Whats' going to happen to us? Will we ever be able to effectively travel through space, perhaps to another solar system? Or do we just wait until the sun explodes, kill ourselves off (due to the Russians ofc), or beat them both to the punch and do it yourself?

very detailed dream....... uhhh i think the scientist didn't fuck up so bad to overestimate the lifespam of the sun by like 5 million yrs....so im not worried :D
